This summer, Cousin Katie came out from Michigan for a couple of weeks to visit. Madison made a goal early on in the school year that she want to write a movie script and film it during the summer time. As fate would have it, she learned Katie would be spending a couple of weeks with us here during the summer.
Knowing they would be together, Madison and Katie logged hours of FaceTime over the school year preparing a script for a movie they titled, “If You Stayed”. In the end, they were able to come up with a 72-page movie script. The movie was a thriller involving a kidnapping.

Once Madison and Katie were together, they got hard to work ironing out any kinks and searching for shooting locations. The two of them were creative and secured locations, recruited family and friends to act, and arranged make-up and outfits. Once everything was official, we got to filming. One of the exciting shooting locations was a ranch owned by a family friend Nancy Mueller and her husband about 17 miles outside of town. Madison and Katie decided the ranch house would be the location where they were held captive. Here are some behind the scene photos of the girls hard at work.

In three long days, we finished all filming and Madison got to work editing the video. Here is the trailer Madison created while finishing the entire movie.
After a few months of editing, the movie was finalized. For their first movie that started over FaceTime, evolved into an official script, and into their first movie, they did a fantastic job.
It is roughly a 44-minute movie and if you have time, take a look and comment on what you think.
